Can I withdraw money from my TFSA or any other account via the online brokerage platform or NBC Wealth app?

Withdrawals from a TFSA can be made online via the online brokerage platform or NBC Wealth app.

From the online brokerage platform:

If you have a National Bank account:

  1. Click Transfer in the top right corner
  2. Select the TFSA in the first box and the bank account in the second box
  3. Confirm the amount
  4. You will receive the funds within a maximum of 24 hours

If you have a non-NBC bank account:

  1. Click Transfer in the top right corner
  2. Choose the TFSA in the first box and the income* account in the second box
  3. Confirm the amount

CAD: You will receive the funds within a maximum of 72 business hours

USD: Transfers are made weekly on Tuesdays

From the NBC Wealth app:

 If you have an NBC bank account:

  1. Sign in to the NBC Wealth app
  2. Choose National Bank Direct Brokerage among the Wealth Management divisions listed in the dropdown menu (your preferences will be saved next time you sign in)
  3. Make sure that you already set up single sign-on user ID
  4. Click the Transfer icon at the bottom of the screen, or from the section More
  5. Click Transfers, then Withdrawals
  6. You can make your transfer in table mode or in natural language mode, by selecting Assist

This mode allows you to complete a sentence with your account and amounts, rather than filling in the form.

  • Select the TFSA
  • Select the bank account
  • Enter the amount

Please note:

  • Only accounts authorized for one type of transfer are visible

An error message will be displayed after submitting the transfer request if the amount available is not sufficient to complete the transfer.

  • Confirm the amount
  • You will receive the funds within a maximum of 24 hours

If you have a non-NBC bank account,

  • Choose Transfers then Withdrawals
  • You can make your transfer in table mode or in natural language mode, by selecting Assist

  • Enter the amount
