Can I withdraw money from my TFSA or any other account via the direct brokerage platform? 

Withdrawals from a TFSA account can be made online via the direct brokerage platform or mobile app. 

On the direct brokerage platform:  

If you have a National Bank account,   

  • Click on "Transfer" in the top right-hand corner of your NBDB online platform
  • Select the TFSA account in the first box and the bank account in the second box
  • Confirm the amount 
  • You will receive the funds within a maximum of 24 hours. 

If you have a non-NBC bank account 

  • Click on "Transfer" in the upper right-hand corner of your NBDB online platform 
  • Choose the TFSA account in the first box and the income* account in the second box  
  • Confirm the amount 

$CDN: You will receive the funds within a maximum of 72 business hours. 

$USD: Transfers are made weekly on Tuesdays.

On the direct brokerage mobile application:  

 If you have an NBC bank account 

  • Click on the blue arrows at the bottom of the main screen 
  • Choose "Transfers", then "Withdrawals". 
  • You can make your transfer in table mode or in natural language mode, by choosing "Assist". 

This mode allows you to complete a sentence with your account and amounts, rather than filling in the form. 

  • Select the TFSA account 
  • Select the bank account 
  • Enter the amount. 

 

Please note:

  • Only accounts authorized for one type of transfer are visible. 

An error message will be displayed after submitting the transfer request, if the amount available is not sufficient to complete the transfer. 

  • Confirm the amount 
  • You will receive the funds within a maximum of 24 hours. 

If you have a non-NBC bank account 

  • Choose "Transfers", then "Withdrawals". 
  • You can make your transfer in table mode or in natural language mode, by choosing "Assist".

  • Select the income account*. 
  • Enter the amount.

Withdrawals from any other registered account can be made by calling our team at 1-800-363-3511. Fees may apply for certain types of withdrawals; see our general fees for details.

*If you don't have such an account, write to us via the Message Centre and ask us to open one for you.
