 What should I do if I am or believe I may be a victim of fraud?

If you believe you may be a victim of fraud, it is important to act promptly.
 

  • If you are certain that your brokerage account has been compromised Contact National Bank Direct Brokerage (NBDB) immediately so that an advisor can secure your account and assist you by clicking  here.

  • If you are unsure or if the situation involves your banking information 
    Contact your financial institution to validate the situation and receive recommendations.

In what situations should I contact an advisor?

You should contact an advisor if you have experienced or noticed any of the following:

  • You clicked on a suspicious or potentially fraudulent link.
  • You entered personal or confidential information on a questionable website.
  • You notice unusual activity in your account (transactions, logins, changes).
  • You received or responded to a suspicious transfer request
  • You received a multi-factor authentication (verification) code even though you did not attempt to log in or were not using the platform.

Certain types of fraud, such as account takeovers, can result in rapid actions, including transactions or unauthorized access. Acting quickly helps reduce potential risks and protect your assets.
