List of information required to open an account

What you must have readily available to open your account

  • Your full name (as indicated on your official IDs)
  • Your date of birth
  • Your mailing and residential addresses (including postal codes)
  • Your work title and the full address of your employer
  • The phone numbers where we can reach you (at work and at home)
  • Your social insurance number so that we may issue your tax documents and validate your status as a permanent resident or Canadian citizen.
  • Your complete banking information, including your branch address in order to link your bank account to your brokerage account (this can be found on a cheque). It is also possible to link a bank account you have with another financial institution.

 

What you must have readily available to open an account with spousal contributions (RRSP or RRIF)

  • The full name of your spouse (as indicated on official IDs)
  • Your spouse’s date of birth
  • Your spouse’s social insurance number

 

What you must have readily available to open an RESP account 

  • The full name of the beneficiary (as indicated on official IDs)
  • The beneficiary’s date of birth
  • The beneficiary’s address
  • The beneficiary’s social insurance number, for federal and provincial grant purposes in certain provinces (without the beneficiary’s SIN, it is not possible to open an RESP account)
